Ik ben gek op Ben and Jerry’s. Het enige waar ik niet zo gek op ben is de prijs die je ervoor moet betalen. Ik heb geprobeerd een Ben and Jerry’s-achtige creatie te maken met ingrediënten die je wellicht al in huis hebt.
Mijn favoriete Ben and Jerry’s ijsje is de relatief nieuwe ‘peanut butter cup’ smaak. Dus het leek me logisch die in ieder geval mee te nemen in dit recept.
INGREDIËNTEN PEANUT BUTTER CUP
500 ml huismerk vanille-ijs | pindakaas | bolletjes pindakaas | 1/2 reep pure chocolade (met of zonder hazelnoten) in stukjes
De bolletjes pindakaas maak je door flink wat hompjes pindakaas met een theelepeltje op een stukje bakpapier te deponeren. Half uurtje in de vriezer en ze zijn klaar voor gebruik.
Het vanille-ijs houd je net zolang buiten de vriezer totdat je erdoorheen kunt roeren. Roer een halve pot pindakaas door het ijs.
Gooi vervolgens de halve reep chocolade erdoorheen. Laat de hompjes pindakaas in het ijs vallen, mooi verspreid. De hompjes zinken vanzelf naar beneden, dus roeren hoeft niet.
Zet het ijs in de vriezer totdat het weer bevroren is.
RESULTAAT:
De tweede versie is meer zelf bedacht. Er zijn veel Ben and Jerry’s ijsjes die chocolade, caramel en koekjes bevatten. Deze smaken heb ik op een hoop gegooid en aangepast wat me zelf lekker leek en in de supermarkt zag liggen.
INGREDIËNTEN CHOCOLATE COOKIE CARAMEL
500 ml huismerk vanille-ijs | chocoladesaus | oreo koekjes | 2 curly wurly’s in stukjes | 1/4 reep pure chocolade (met of zonder hazelnoten) in stukjes
Het vanille-ijs wederom net zolang buiten de vriezer houden totdat je erdoorheen kunt roeren. Roer de koekjes, curly wurly’s en chocolade door het ijs.
Als laatst drapeer je een mooie sliert chocoladesaus bovenop het ijs. Dit zakt langzaam naar de bodem. Je kunt het ook door het ijs roeren als je dat lekkerder vindt. Zet het ijs in de vriezer totdat het weer bevroren is.
RESULTAAT:
Beide varianten zijn erg lekker geworden. Het enige nadeel van het ontdooien van bestaand ijs, is dat er wat ijskristallen in het ijs komen. Daarnaast denk ik niet dat je het langer dan een week kunt bewaren omdat het ijs al eens ontdooid is geweest. Maar dat is natuurlijk ook niet nodig, het is allang op tegen die tijd!
In plaats van de ingrediënten die hierboven staan, kun je er natuurlijk ook zelf op los gaan fantaseren. Welke smaak zou jij graag willen maken/kopiëren?

Ziet er lekker uit! Om het langer houdbaar te laten zijn kun je ook gewoon zelf ijs maken (is iets meer moeite, maar dan heb je het wel helemaal zelf gedaan!) en daar de ingrediënten doorheen doen.
