Het leuke aan het hebben van een blog is dat je wel eens producten mag recenseren. Deze keer viel het boek: ‘Design objecten om zelf te maken 2’ van Christopher Stuart op de deurmat. Aangezien ik gek ben op design & D.I.Y.’s, kon ik niet wachten om het boek door te kijken! (Dutch only)
Design objecten om zelf te maken 2, is een vervolg op het eerste deel, welk een groot succes werd. Het boek toont dertig spiksplinternieuwe ontwerpen van toonaangevende ontwerpers/makers uit de hele wereld.
Ieder design object is voorzien van een uitleg, waarin staat hoe je het ontwerp zelf maakt en wat je daarvoor nodig hebt. Daarnaast is de tekst vergezeld van technische tekeningen en natuurlijk mooie foto’s.
Het boek is opgedeeld in zeven verschillende ontwerp thema’s, zoals; kasten, verlichting, slaapkamer en tuin. Naast dat de design objecten prachtig zijn, vind ik het boek zelf ook mooi vormgegeven. Het oogt rustig, zonder dat het saai is. Misschien gek om erbij te vermelden, maar het boek is unisex, daarmee bedoel ik, leuk voor mannen en vrouwen!
De ontwerpen die voorbijkomen in Design objecten 2, verschillen qua moeilijkheidsgraad. Het ene object is te maken in een dag, terwijl je met een ander wel een paar dagen bezig zal zijn. Ook zijn de ontwerpen niet voor de standaar D.I.Y.-er. Je moet echt een beetje technisch inzicht en materiaalkennis hebben, wil je een object in elkaar kunnen zetten. Sommige objecten zijn naar mijn idee alleen voor de doorgewinterde D.I.Y.-ers.
Conclusie: Het boek staat vol met hele mooie, originele ontwerpen. Is prima vormgegeven en sleept je door een aantal best lastige D.I.Y.’s heen. Voor de echt handige designliefhebber is het een hele leuke bron van inspiratie en zeker een musthave!
