Hier review ik films waar ik sámen met iemand naartoe ben geweest en bepaal: was dit een fijne feelgood film om samen naartoe te gaan, liever alleen of gewoon helemaal niet…? Deze films draaien op moment van schrijven allemaal nog in de bioscoop.

REVIEW: A-ma-zing! De liedjes, de dansjes, de verhaallijn. Het is een film die je gelukkig maakt, je inspireert (vooral als je een creatief beroep hebt) en entertaining is tot de laatste regel van de aftiteling. Tom en ik hebben deze film gekroond als de beste film ooit. Dus. Ga er please, please, please heen voordat hij uit de bioscoop verdwijnt. EN ga dan snel nog een keer, want de tweede keer is hij nóg leuker!
DATE: Tom, met wie ik wekenlang de soundtrack luisterde, die héél graag een tweede keer mee ging en na afloop zijn favoriete liedje floot terwijl hij de zaal uitliep.

SERIE: Temptation Island (klik hier voor de trailer). Elke zondag om 20.00 op RTL5.
WAT IS HET: Het foutste televisieprogramma ooit gemaakt maar zó heerlijk meeslepend. Vier stelletjes (twee Vlaamse, twee Nederlandse) gaan (tien dagen geloof ik) apart van elkaar op vakantie op een tropisch eiland. In die tijd vloeit de drank rijkelijk en zullen ze worden verleid door stomende vrijgezellen om hun relatie te testen…
WAAROM KIJKEN: Als je net als ik een kind van de jaren negentig bent, dan weet je dat dit programma zo’n dikke tien jaar geleden (in PRECIES hetzelfde format) ook al op onze beeldbuizen schitterde. Het is voorspelbaar op zo’n manier als een slechte horrorfilm, wie gaat er als eerste aan? Waarom deze koppels meedoen aan dit programma hebben we nooit kunnen uitvogelen. Verstandige mensen testen hun relatie door twee weken op kampeervakantie te gaan in drenthe, dus dat kan het niet zijn. Is het de fifteen minutes of fame? Krijgen ze dik betaald? Is het een weddenschap? Wie het weet mag het zeggen. In de tussentijd geniet ik van deze guilty pleasure en fluister elke vijf minuten met de zuchtende vrouwenstem mee: ’temptasjuuuuuuuuuuuun’.

SERIE: De keuringsdienst van waarde (klik hier voor alle afleveringen).
Nieuwe afleveringen elke donderdag om 20.30 op NPO 3.
WAT IS HET: Een groter verschil met het programma hierboven kon het bijna niet zijn en ik hoef niet uit te leggen wat het is want het is al tien jaar een begrip. De keuringsdienst zegt ‘hoezo?’ tegen zo ongeveer elk product dat je in de supermarkt kan vinden en zoekt het uit.
WAAROM KIJKEN: Ik heb tijdens een week griep zo’n drie seizoenen verslonden (je kunt álle seizoenen online kijken). Het is extreem vermakelijk, superdroog en ook nog eens ontzettend leerzaam. Ik weet nu eindelijk het verschil tussen tarwebloem en volkorenmeel (en keer elk graanproduct in de supermarkt eerst om voordat het in mijn mandje gaat om te kijken wat erin zit). Mijn favoriete afleveringen zijn bolognese, volkoren, cheddar en liaan.

WAT IS HET: Een driedelige documentaire over de ‘kosten’ van goedkope plastic spullen. Het blijkt dat de prijs die we betalen voor die kleine snuisterijen een stuk hoger is dan we denken…
WAAROM KIJKEN: Als je net als ik je al stiekem heel lang afvraagt hoe het toch komt dat alles bij de Action (en andere prijsvechters) zo goedkoop kan, dat is dit je docu. Er komt wel wat meer aan het licht dan dat ik eigenlijk had willen weten, maar ik ben wel blij dat ik het nu weet zodat ik stapje voor stapje wat bewustere keuzes kan maken. De serie begint met een uitzinnige Action fan die glundert bij alle weekspecials en héél blij is dat deze winkel bestaat zodat ze iedereen om zich heen kan overladen met kleine cadeautjes en voor een appel en een ei haar huis op kan leuken. Er volgt een bijzondere zoektocht naar de herkomst van een willekeurig Action product waarbij we ondertussen leren hoe en waarom we kopen en wat voor effect dat heeft op de Nederlandse economie en uiteindelijk komen we uit bij de plastic soep…

SERIE: The great pottery throw down (klik hier voor een clip van de volgende aflevering).
WAT IS HET: Denk the Great British Bake Off maar dan met potten. Elke donderdag om 21.00 op BBC 2.
WAAROM KIJKEN: Omdat het nog heel lang duurt voordat de the Great British Bake Off begint en dat zal toch nooit meer hetzelfde zijn zonder Mary, Mel en Sue. Omdat één van de juryleden, een beer van een vent wekelijks een potje (ha, see what I did there) moet janken omdat hij zo ontroerd is door één van de maaksels van de kandidaten. Omdat het fantastisch is mensen zo ambachtelijk bezig te zien (is ook wel een beetje ontroerend hoor) en omdat het zo Brits is.

WAT: The little book of Hygge.
WAT IS DAT: Het ultieme no nonsense feel good boek over het Deense woord hygge.
WAAROM LUISTEREN/LEZEN: Eerlijk gezegd ben ik dit boek vooral gaan luisteren omdat ik het kaft zo mooi vond en het al in talloze boekhandels had zien liggen. Hygge (spreek uit: huuge) is een Deens woord dat het dichtst bij ons Nederlandse woord ‘gezellig’ in de buurt komt. Maar dan is het nóg fijner, knusser en prettiger. De auteur beschrijft dat hygge volgens hem de belangrijkste reden is dat de Denen de gelukkigste mensen op aarde zijn. Ze zorgen ervoor dat elk aspect van hun leven doordrenkt is van hygge. Van eten, tot vrienden, verlichting en vrijetijdsbesteding, álles kun je hyggly maken. Dit boek legt uit wat hygge nou precies is en hoe je het kunt toepassen in je eigen leven. Het is op een lichtvoetige en humoristische manier geschreven en door alleen al te luisteren/lezen kun je de hygge al een beetje voelen. Ik heb het met veel plezier meerdere keren geluisterd (het boek duurt maar drie uurtjes) en werd vooral blij van de simpele instructies. Je hoeft niet te mediteren, gezond te eten of vrijwilligerswerk te doen om het ultieme geluk te bereiken. Nee, steek een kaarsje aan en doe een bordspelletje met je beste vriend terwijl je een zelfgebakken stuk chocoladetaart eet. Zo moeilijk is het allemaal niet…

Ik vind Temptation Island echt één van de verschrikkelijkste programma’s ever, waarvan ik serieus niet begrijp waarom iemand dat format heeft bedacht én waarom er mensen aan mee doen. Echt vreselijk. Als dat voorbij komt, al is het maar een klein voorstukje, dan zet ik ‘m al op mute of zap ik weg. :’)
