Gastblog door Tea – Het is alweer tijd voor een nieuwe gastblog! En deze staat in het teken van Japan, waar ik vorige maand 10 dagen doorbracht voor een kleine vakantie. Ik hou van (voor mij) nieuwe landen bezoeken, een kijkje nemen in een andere cultuur, genieten van eten en nieuwe dingen ontdekken. En ik kan je vertellen dat Japan heel goed in al die dingen was en me elke dag weer wist te verassen en verbazen. Vandaag deel ik wat aparte dingen die ik tegen ben gekomen. Excuses alvast voor de kwaliteit van de foto’s, de meeste zijn snel met mijn telefoon gemaakt. (-’_’-)
Kennen jullie de Friends-aflevering waar ze erachter komen dat Joey een reclamespotje heeft opgenomen voor een mannenlippenstift in Japan? Naar aanleiding van dat en andere verhalen had ik verwacht dat er overal rare reclames met Westerse sterren te zien zouden zijn. Maar de raarste die ik tegenkwam is eentje van voetballer Cristiano Ronaldo:
Het is een ‘facial fitness’ apparaat dat schijnbaar je gezicht smaller maakt, een smal gezicht is het schoonheidsideaal in Japan en daar hebben ze nogal rare middelen voor. Je moet het echt even checken.
En hierboven zie je nog een paar andere martelwerktuigen voor een smaller gezicht. Het zijn vooral zweetmaskers en massagerollers.
En dan was er ook zoiets. Beetje Tell Sell-achtig en ze waren er in verschillende merken en kleuren… (⊙﹏⊙✿)
Bij kassa’s geef je het geld niet aan maar doe je het in een speciaal bakje, ook als je het aangeeft doen ze het eerst in het bakje en dan pas in de kassa.
Baby’s eerste stokjes! Geweldig toch? Ik had best zo’n paar willen hebben.
Naar de wc gaan was een hele ervaring. Ten eerste word je verrast door een verwarmde toiletbril en dan mag je uitvogelen waar bovenstaande knopjes voor dienen. Je kunt zelfs een geluidje afspelen als je niet wil dat iemand hoort waar je mee bezig bent. En bij sommige zit er zelfs een droger bij.
In Duitsland hebben ze parkeerplaatsen voor vrouwen (ze zijn niet groter ofzo, maar ze staan dichterbij de ingang) en in Japan vrouwencoupés in metro’s! Deze zijn om een minder leuke reden geïntroduceerd: er waren nogal wat meldingen van vrouwen die werden betast. Tijdens de spitsuren en ’s avonds na elven mogen alleen vrouwen in deze coupés zitten en zijn dus betast-vrij.
Dit dan: handschoenen waarmee je aardappels grondig wast en meteen ook het grootste deel van de schil wegwrijft. Het klinkt een beetje Tell Sell-achtig, maar het was gewoon te koop in een winkel.
Wij Westerlingen doen er alles aan om bruin te worden, maar in Japan is zo wit mogelijk het schoonheidsideaal. Zoals je ziet hebben ze heel wat UV beschermstukken om te voorkomen dat de zon ze raakt. Ook toen het 22 graden was, liepen de Japanners in laagjes en met hoedjes rond.
Mondkapjes in alle kleuren en maten, maar ook met bijvoorbeeld een menthol-geurzakje erin, dit schijnt bij hooikoorts te helpen.
Om elke hoek staan wel één of twee automaten om (warme) koffie, water of frisdrank te kopen. Heel handig, want zo hoef je niet rond te lopen met flesjes en heb je eigenlijk altijd gekoeld water in de buurt. Hoewel het natuurlijk niet zo milieuvriendelijk is om elke dag weer een flesje te kopen, maar dat is een ander verhaal.
Bij bijna elke restaurant en winkel vind je dit apparaat om je natte paraplu in een zakje te doen. Ik heb ook een soort paraplu-stalling gezien, waar je je paraplu op een slotje kan zetten zodat hij niet mee wordt genomen. Zoiets zou ik ook bestwel in het Westen willen zien.
Kinderen in Japan krijgen bento boxen met de mooiste creaties mee voor lunch (zie voorbeelden hier). En deze ei-vormer heb je dan ook hard nodig want je kindje kan natuurlijk niet met een saai rond ei op school aankomen.
In bijna alle openbare toiletten vindt je deze babystoeltjes. Superhandig toch? Hoe doen moeders dat in het Westen eigenlijk? Wat als de kinderwagen niet mee naar binnen kan?
Is het tegen snurken? Is het tegen praten in je slaap? Is het voor beide? Ik weet het niet, maar het zag er zo schattig uit dat ik het bijna mee wilde nemen.
Qua ijsjes hadden ze hier en daar een paar vreemde combinaties. Ik had zelf met kastanje-smaak, maar die vond ik niet zo… De sakura (kersenbloesem) en matcha (groene thee) daarentegen, lekker! Voor welke zouden jullie gaan?
