Grootse plannen voor onze kleine stadstuin.

Zoals jullie weten, zijn we vorig jaar verhuisd naar ons droomhuis. Binnen is druk verbouwd en gedaan, maar onze tuin is nog steeds een concrete jungle. Voor een stadstuin is de maat heel behoorlijk, maar enorm is het niet. Toch lijkt het me een leuke uitdaging om van dat postzegeltje een heerlijk plekje te maken waar we van kunnen genieten zodra we de deur uitstappen…

ONDERHOUDSVRIJE LUXE
De reden dat we niet direct de tuin hebben aangepakt tijdens de verbouwing was omdat we al heel veel geld hadden uitgegeven, maar ook omdat we geen flauw idee hadden wat we ermee wilden. Na maandenlang plaatjes verzamelen op Pinterest werd steeds duidelijker dat mijn voorkeur uitgaat naar een tuin die extreem onderhoudsvrij is, een beetje een luxe vakantiegevoel geeft, heel praktisch is en met materialen die in het oog springen. Denk toffe patroontegels en een zwarte schutting. En… Kunstgras… I know, die term schreeuwt tacky maar we hadden het op het binnenplaatsje van ons vakantiehuisje in Brighton en het was fa-bu-lous. Het is onderhoudsvrij (redelijk, beetje stofzuigen af en toe I guess), het voelt heerlijk aan de voetjes, als je een beetje investeert is het echt niet lelijk én het kan in de schaduw. Ik ben om.

(PIN)spiratie
Pinterestborden lopen al vrij snel uit de hand. Elke afbeelding heeft wel íéts dat ik mooi vind, maar het is onmogelijk om álle ideeen in die bescheiden tuin van ons te proppen. Het was dus tijd om een selectie te maken van inspiratiebeelden die ik het allermooist vind én die met zijn allen te combineren zijn. Iets wat ik natuurlijken achter de schermen kan doen, maar ach, kan jullie natuurlijk ook gezellig mee laten kijken. ONDERHOUDSVRIJ EN SEXY
Weinig onderhoud dus, ik ken mezelf en ik ga niet elke week onkruid wieden en tegen plantjes praten. Ik vind bovenstaande foto daarom echt práchtig. Het is enorm uitnodigend, groen, mooie materialen en als het er eenmaal staat, hoef je er bijna niks meer aan te doen. Een beetje blaadjes opruimen en je boompje wat bij snoeien, maar verder is het naar buiten stappen en gaan zitten. Ik vind de strakke overgang van (kunst)gras naar betonbak super en de slanke latjes van de schutting mega sexy. Die gaan we hoe dan ook in het ontwerp van onze tuin verwerken want I looooooove that look.

FUNKY TERRASTEGELS
Je komt het in Nederland ontzettend weinig tegen, maar ik vind het zo geweldig: terrastegels met patroon. Waarschijnlijk omdat de meeste mensen hun tuin zien als een oase van rust en daarom liever neutrale terrastegels gebruiken en daar is ook echt wat voor te zeggen. Maar ik wil ontzettend graag een stuk van onze tuin betegelen met een vrolijk en fris patroon. Vloertegels binnen zijn geweldig met patroon, dus waarom zou je dat buiten niet doen? In mijn hoofd is dat makkelijker te onderhouden dan houten vlonders (maar daar weet ik geen donder vanaf dus correct me if I’m wrong!) Het geeft in ieder geval een instant vakantiegevoel en hopelijk maakt het de tuin wat leuker om naar te kijken in de herfst- en wintermaanden. De drie patroontegels boven de prachtige inspiratiefoto zijn geschikt om buiten te leggen, welke is jouw favoriet? Ik kan niet kiezen!

ZWARTE SCHUTTING
Ik zou het binnenshuis niet zo snel doen, een groot vlak zwart gebruiken, maar voor buiten vind ik het práchtig: een zwarte schutting. Het liefst van dunne zwarte latten met tropisch aandoende planten ervoor zoals bamboe of bananenbladeren. Het groen contrasteert er zo mooi bij en onze witte hoekbank ook. 

BUITENKEUKEN
Maar niet écht een buitenkeuken hoor, we wonen in Nederland, niet in Australie. Ik zou wel graag een stuk aanrecht willen met wat opbergruimte eronder. Daar kunnen Kiki’s buitenspeeltjes in, schepjes en harkjes en extra bloempotten/aarde oid. Erbovenop kunnen we drankjes en hapjes neerzetten voor als we iets te vieren hebben of een simpele elektrische barbecue op neerzetten buiten het bereik van kinderhandjes. Ook een kraan met een wastafel lijkt me erg handig voor vieze handjes, laarsjes of gewoon om een kan water buiten te kunnen vullen. 

TERRASMEUBILAIR
Een fijne hoekbank (Wehkamp) hebben we vorig jaar wel meteen gekocht en dat ding is ge-nie-ten. Maar verder hebben we nog praktisch niks staan in onze tuin. Ik wil nog graag een tafel en stoelen voor buiten die makkelijk schoon te maken zijn en lang mooi blijven, zelfs als ze het hele jaar buiten blijven staan. De gekleurde stoelen hierboven zijn van het merk ISSIE, zijn van kunststof en je kunt er een simpel kussentje bij kopen, de groene tafel eronder is van HAY en ik hou zo van HAY. Kneiterduur voor hoe simpel het is, maar het is tijdloos en verveelt nooit. Ik weet nog niet of het deze combinatie wordt, maar het zou heel goed kunnen.

BESCHUTTING
De plek waar de buitentafel komt te staan (op de eerdergenoemde funky tegels) zou ik graag een beetje beschut willen hebben. De dunne latten constructie links heeft mijn voorkeur, maar optie twee is wat simpeler en werkt wat meer met wat we hebben: de druif die al groeit voor ons raam over een stellage laten groeien. Dat vergt wel wat onderhoud (en het geeft veel troep want vogels zijn GEK op druiven en die maken er dan een smeerboel van) maar oooooeh de vakantie vibes die het geeft. Nog even over nadenken…

KINDERHOEKJE
Wat me ook érg leuk lijkt, is een plek voor Kiki om te spelen. Ik ben een sucker voor tuin- en strandhuisjes, dus het is stiekem ook voor mij om naar te kijken. Het huisje hierboven is in Nederland te koop (bol.com), maar dan moet ik het zelf eerst schilderen en hij is ook wat aan de maat in onze postzegeltuin. Ik twijfel nog, ik vind ‘m zó leuk! Misschien ook een zandbak als we die een beetje goed kwijt kunnen. Ik vind het idee van hierboven ontzettend slim: een zandbak verstopt onder houten vlonders! Als er niet mee gespeeld wordt, gaat de deksel erop en merk je er niks van en ik vind het ook wel een mooi bescheiden maatje.

LEUKE PLANNEN, NOU NOG EEN TUINMAN/VROUW
Ok, we weten dus wat we willen (zo ongeveer) maar het zijn veel wensen in een kleine ruimte en we hebben geen tijd/skills om dat zelf te maken. Het moet nog een logisch geheel worden én uitgevoerd worden. Ken je dus iemand (of ben je iemand) in Noord Nederland die hier wel raad mee weet, let me know!

  3. Leuke plannen! Ik zou bijna willen dat ik ook een kleinere tuin had :D Wij dachten laatst ook na over kunstgras. We hebben honden en die brengen super veel zand mee binnen als ze buiten zijn geweest en met kunstgras zou dat wel gefixt zijn maar dan zitten we natuurlijk met het poepjesprobleem, wat me op kunstgras dan weer minder handig lijkt :p (en onze tuin is gigantisch dus dat zou héél duur worden)
    Alleszins, wel grote fan van tegels met een printje! Instant vakantievibes inderdaad.
